A Labrador Retriever sensing some Santa-related activity up the chimney is the theme of my new drawing I’ll show you on Thursday. Last year my ‘Christian Art’ gallery was the first at DouglasRickard.com to get some Christmas artwork. That sounds pretty obvious, right? Well, not really.
I didn’t become born again until I was an adult and for the first time began to live according to the Word of God. If it said do it in the Bible, then I did it! I got water baptized, received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues… and if the Bible said don’t do it… then it settled the matter for me. The Bible is the only guidebook to bring us the God kind of life but I had been raised in a church where some of our traditions weren’t actually anywhere in the Word of God at all.
I was very aware that I didn’t want to be brought under condemnation or distracted from knowing God’s grace by any man-made traditions. And so after I became a born again Christian I still did the whole ‘Christmas thing’ even though I didn’t see anything about celebrating December 25th in the Bible. In this blog season though I’ll tell you the amazing thing I found out last Christmas about December the 25th and I promise, it won’t ruin your Christmas! In the meantime below are some sneak-peeks from the artwork premiering Thursday.
