Teenage boys, knives and real protection, pt 3

By douglasrickard

God’s promise on this greeting card of mine [below] packs power and provides the solution to… fear (Psalm 119:14). I’ve mentioned how fear is a reason teenagers are carrying knives in Britain today and in turn putting them and others at greater risk. And it’s serious.
Even England football players launched an anti-knife campaign in August called ‘It Doesn’t Have to Happen’. Earlier that month, I got criticized for saying Judeo-Christian morals not being taught in schools was part of the cause of teenage knife crime in Britain today. My critics were some of those people who think the less ‘religion’ there is in society, the better we’ll be. But on Sunday that’s what my pastor, Ramson Mumba talked about; he said how in our pluralistic society today people are indeed just doing what’s right in their own eyes.
If you know a teenage boy particularly, perhaps giving them ‘God’s Protection – My Hiding Place and Shield’ even as a trading card sized ACEO [here] would leave them with something extra after the Holidays are over. It’s about everyone doing their part isn’t it, just like the England football stars. Rio Ferdinand did mention another aspect to the problem:

“Boredom can set in a lot of times, there is a lot of peer pressure and then something happens that everyone regrets”

Well, this Friday, Ramson Mumba is hosting an awesome 3 day youth event at the church in London I belong to, featuring a dance troupe, bands and former rapper Ma$e who’s now a pastor. (Just the kind of thing teenagers don’t find boring!)
