If any of you know my story, you’ll know how much I tribute eBay as being the best platform for someone’s gift to make room for them (Proverbs 18:16); particularly for an artist like myself, who can offer their work for sale. I had wanted the WDCC fine art sculpture line to produce backdrops from the films to go with the pieces I owned, and eventually drew them myself. I ended up drawing the actual WDCC sculptures in still-life studies and put a few up on eBay. Any time I had not listed the prints, I had emails asking the likes of, “Can you put this one up again?” or “Have you drawn this or that figurine?” It was through the patient support of my eBay Buyers that I progressed to producing museum/gallery quality giclees and went on to open my own online art gallery. And all this came at a time when the new job I had started wasn’t able to pay me.
Due to the nature of art sales though, all this time I had never opened an eBay store but simply listed items now and again. However eBay stores have changed for the better and for someone who has a selection to offer, it’s now perfect because there’s only a minuscule fee to list each item and a one-off monthly fee to have the store open and final value fee. Plus the fun thing is eBay store owners can use a tool called ‘markdown manager’ for sales… and my pre-Christmas sale ending November 30th is on right now. I guess that’s something fun for my Buyers too!
