Christmas artwork, pt 5

By douglasrickard

I found out why, I now think, the world celebrates Christmas on December 25th; with Jesus being born on a special date in September and actually conceived nine months earlier on… December 25th. I mentioned the ancient Church festival in September around the angels appearing and how it matched the account in Luke [Luke 2:8-20]; and how knowing all this has freed me up to share with you, this blog season, all my Christmas artwork. And here’s how Billye Brim summed this up on the December 17th 2007 week of the ‘Believer’s Voice of Victory‘ broadcast, ‘Bible Prophecy and the Signs of the Times’:

“Now, it is true that there was a pagan holiday… …but we’ve been told that, that pagan thing is the reason for our choosing it when it looks like that it was not even the reason that we chose it in the very, very, going back to the first roots. And that’s why it doesn’t matter when you celebrate it. He came! He was born! …He did it! We pick out this day to honour Him, to praise Him, to be glad that He came. You don’t have to have a legal thing that said He was conceived on the 25th December, He was born on the 29th September. Either way, (now this satisfies me, I like to know about things), but if I didn’t know this… …I still would say it’s the day He came… …in the fullness of time, when God said ‘Go’, He came. And He that walked up and down through the eternities, in that little city of Bethlehem Ephrata, He came and tabernacled in the flesh, Emmanuel, God with us.”
